Restaurants in Bozeman: A Local’s Guide

I'm sharing the best restaurants in Bozeman from a local's perspective! These are the restaurants I would recommend when visiting Bozeman | bozeman, Montana | montana travel | visit bozeman | visit montana | where to eat in bozeman | where to eat in montana

One of the things I miss most about living in Chicago is the food. The fact that you can find some of the best Mexican, Mediterranian, Asian, and every other kind of food in one city was something I definitely took for granted! That said, Bozeman has a few hidden gems that I’d recommend if you’re visiting.

Bozeman is getting more and more diverse every year and the restaurants in Bozeman reflect that. Here are a few of our favorites to check out:

Restaurants in Downtown Bozeman

Dave’s Sushi

Dave’s Sushi is hands down one of the best sushi restaurants in Bozeman. It is about a block from Main St, so if you’re shopping downtown, it’s easy to walk to. Obviously, they’re known for their sushi, but they have other things on the menu, such as noodle dishes, ramen, and more. They also recently rennovated, so they can seat a lot more people than they used to be able to.

What I recommend: Le Poisson roll and Rainbow roll

Red Tractor Pizza

Austin and I drove past Red Tractor Pizza at least 3-4 times per week and every time, we’d remember that we wanted to try it out. Eventually, we did and it was amazing! This restaurant has several specialty pizzas to choose from, or your classic cheese, sausage, or pepperoni. What makes this pizza so good is the crust. You can tell it’s made with good ingredients and it’s cooked perfectly.

As someone from Chicago, I feel like I have some athority to talk about good pizza (kidding, but not really) and Red Tractor is the best pizza we’ve had in Bozeman! They also have local beers and ciders to try.

What I recommend: The Venetian Pizza and the Valley Bounty Salad

Western Cafe

The Western Cafe is right on Main St. downtown and is one of my favorite restaurants in Bozeman for breakfast or brunch. It’s a very western-themed restaurant with great food! Just make sure to get here fairly early because you’ll notice a line starting to form outside around 9 or 10am.

What I recommend: Harvest Omelet

Montana Ale Works

If you want one classic Bozeman restaurant, this is the one! This restaurant has a wide selection of lunch and dinner options. They also have some great drinks! This restaurant is great because they have something for literally anyone and the atmosphere is more moody and rustic than most places in Bozeman.

What I recommend: Taos dip and the Huckleberry Lemon Drop

Plonk

Plonk is a wine bar right on Main Street and is an awesome place to end a day of shopping! They have happy hour every day from 3-5pm and 10:30pm-12am. You’ll find a great selection of appetizers and drinks on their happy hour menu, but they have even more options including house wines, international wines, local beers, lunch, and dinner options.

What I recommend: Personal Ploughman’s board and Richard Blocking Pinot Blanc at happy hour

Genuine Ice Cream

You’ll see two popular ice cream places downtown – Genuine and Sweet Peaks. PLEASE go to Genuine! Austin and I tried Sweet Peaks first and we were very disappointed. Their ice cream was rather ice-y and Genuine’s is so creamy with great flavor options. Speaking of flavor options, their flavors change almost daily, so you can always try something new!

What I recommend: Honey Lavender ice cream if they have it

Restaurants Near Four Corners

Kountry Korner Cafe

If you’re looking for a restaurant for a homestyle meal, this is your place. They have live music around 5:30pm every Saturday and the back room (where you probably want to be) starts filling up around then, so either make a reservation, or get here early! This has become one of our favorite restaurants in Bozeman because of their prime rib special every Saturday.

What I recommend: Go on Saturday and get the prime rib!

Best Burger

This is a great option if you’re just looking for a quick fast food dinner. While they do make it fast, these burgers are far superior to McDonald’s, Wendy’s, Burger King, or anything like that. I think they only have a drive through, but they do have parking places if you want to eat in your car.

What I recommend: Single burger with the works and fresh cut fries with fry sauce

Other Restaurants in Bozeman

Sidewinders

Sidewinders is one of those restaurants that has a little bit of everything, and it’s all great! The interior is decorated with an aviation asthetic (hense “sidewinders”), so Austin loved it immediately. They even have a rooftop for when it gets warmer.

What I recommend: The “S” pretzel and the Cobb Salad

Obviously, there are a LOT more restaurants in Bozeman that we haven’t been to yet, but these are my favorites after living here for almost a year. If you’ve been to a restaurant that deserves to be on this list, let me know in the comments!
