Romantic Getaways in Montana: 5 Unique Experiences
Picture this: you and your partner leave everything behind for the weekend. You forget about work. You forget about school. You forget about the kids, the pets, or any other responsibilities you have every day. And you spend a few days just with each other. When was the last time you did that? I know for me, it’s been way too long!
I can’t think of anything more romantic than spending a weekend in a quiet, secluded area with your special someone. Montana is one of the best places for this because it’s so open and there are so many different options! There are a lot of great places to visit with your significant other. Here are the best options for romantic getaways in Montana:
Yurt/Glamping Getaway
I think of yurts and glamping as very similar. They’re both in between camping and staying at a hotel. They both usually include a sturdy, semi-permenant structure, an actual bed, heating/air conditioning, and if you’re lucky, running water. I did some searching on AirBnB for their “unique stays” to find a place to get away to for my birthday and I came across a yurt in Bozeman, MT that we’re going to for my birthday weekend!
The place we’re staying is called the Yonder Yurt on AirBnB and it looks like such a cozy, romantic getaway with a ton of Montana mountain views surrounding it.
Chico Hot Springs
When I think of romantic getaways, Chico Hot Springs in Chico, Montana has it all! Chico Hot Springs is a hot spring resort and day spa near Bozeman. You can go there for the day and enjoy the pool and spa, or you can make a romantic getaway out of it and stay a couple nights! They have a couple lodges to choose from or cabins for more privacy. There is also a restaurant on site, a spa, and a bunch of activities like hiking, fishing, skiing, and more to try.

Stay on a Guest Ranch
If you want a truly unique Montana experience, this is the way to do it. There are several ranches around Montana that offer guest stays to experience what it’s like living on a ranch! Most of these are working ranches and they’re also mostly all inclusive, but they can get pretty pricey. However, who can put a price on home cooked meals and feeling like you’re on the show Yellowstone?

You’ll usually be with a larger group when you stay on a ranch. They’ll lead everyone through activities like horseback riding, fly fishing, wagon rides and more. They even have you participate in some of the ranch chores to give you the full experience.

Stay in a Bed and Breakfast Mansion
I’m not sure why, but I always LOVE doing this! I love the idea of having a home cooked breakfast when I wake up in a new place. These mansions also have so much history. It’s almost like you’re staying in a museum. There are quite a few options around Montana for this. Austin and I stayed in the Copper King Mansion in Butte, Montana this past summer and it was very cool! This was the residence of William Andrews Clark, one of the three infamous Copper Kings in Montana.
We ended up getting the master suite when we stayed which was HUGE. We had a tour of the building the next morning after a delicious breakfast made by the great granddaughter of original owners.

Camping Under the Stars
If you’re up for more of an adventure, Montana is a great place to pitch a tent or rent an RV to spend some time in nature and under the stars. In Montana, there is a lot of BLM (Bureau of Land Management) land and Naitonal Forests that you can camp on for free. You also have the choice of staying in a campground for a small fee.
