Summary: The Virgin Voyages Pajama Party is an iconic part of every Virgin Voyages cruise that sets sail. In this post, I’ll be talking about what you should wear, what to expect, and everything else you need to know about the Pajama Party before your next cruise!

One of Virgin’s favorite things to do is throw a party, and they sure are good at it. Between Scarlet Night, the Pajama Party, and all the other fun things that the Happenings Cast (on-board entertainment staff) is a part of, there is no shortage of fun to be had.

What is the Virgin Voyages Pajama Party?

If this is the first you’re hearing about it, Virgin Voyages hosts two themed parties during every cruise: Scarlet Night and the Pajama Party. It’s nearly exactly as it sounds: a night to party in your favorite PJs. Honestly, what could be more fun than dancing with your favorite people in the comfiest clothes you own?

While this party is pretty straightforward, I know you’re probably like me (a type A planner) if you’re reading this post, so I’ve put together exactly what to expect and what to bring with for this specific night.

What to Wear to the Virgin Voyages Pajama Party?

This seems like an easy question to answer, but my biggest question when packing for the PJ Party was: “Are people going to be wearing their actual pajamas that they’d wear to bed, or cute silky ones that they bought just for this, or maybe even lingerie?”

For the most part, everyone’s pajamas were cute. Maybe that’s what some people do actually wear to bed, but it looked like most groups bought a pair of pajamas specifically for this night.

My group decided we’d each buy a different color set of satin pajamas. We chose this set as it was very affordable and easy to buy off of Amazon. We got a lot of compliments on them and they were still very comfortable!

Where on the Ship Does the PJ Party Take Place?

The Pajama Party is supposed to take place on the open-air pool deck. However, it was raining when we were supposed to have ours, so they moved it to the Manor. The Manor is the nightclub with an entrance in the casino on the Virgin Voyages Scarlet Lady ship. Personally, I preferred this. I had a great time inside!

What’s the Vibe of the Party?

My experience might be a little different than yours since most of the parties usually happen on the pool deck, and ours was inside. That said, there was a DJ and almost everyone was dancing to the throwback hip hop songs they were playing.

The best part of the party were the hosts: two gorgeous drag queens that welcomed us to the party and spoke, sang, and danced throughout the night.

If your PJ party does end up being on the pool deck, there are plenty of couches and lounges to rest in between dancing, or to chill on and just people watch the whole night. There are also a few bars in both locations for you to buy drinks without leaving the party!

Are Drinks Included on Virgin Voyages?

Virgin Voyages is a semi-all-inclusive cruise. I say “semi” because all the food and most drinks are included, but any alcoholic or espresso drinks are extra. You’ll get a bracelet that you can hook up to a credit card in the Virgin Voyages app. Whenever you want to buy a drink, you just scan the bracelet. This way, you don’t need to carry your wallet with you if you don’t want to.

The one exception to this is the welcome party where they were giving out free rose brut champagne (usually $7 per glass).

Pro Tip: If you book your Virgin Voyages cruise through a travel agent, you usually get free on-board credit that can be used toward drinks!
