  • Current 2024 travel fund: $0 This needs to change. And fast, preferably. Between home renovations and loosely-budgeted trips, we’re out of money. Long story short, I effed up by spending too much on travel this year, but I had an awesome time doing it 😂 I’m making it my mission to change that in the next couple of months. I have a few ideas to creatively make money relatively quickly and I’ll be sharing them over the next few months along with how much I make from them and how much they add to the overall goal: a travel fund of $2000 If you have ideas, I’d love to hear them! Lets see how this goes 😅
  • 4 tools I use to get the cheapest flights possible ⬇️ I’m entering a new semi-budget travel era after a year of loose-budget travel and home renovations 😅 If you’re with me, here are my favorite ways to book the cheapest flights possible. 1️⃣ A flight Alert Service There are a ton of these out there. Basically, you sign up (some are free, some paid) and they’ll send you alerts when cheap flights become available. Personally I use @ashleygetsaround’s service because she sends cheap business class flights, specifically. There are others out there like @faredrop or @hello_going. You may think it’s counterintuitive to PAY for a service when you’re trying to save money, but booking just one flight through them usually pays for the membership in savings (also @ashleygetsaround has a free list, too!). 2️⃣ Reading a Travel Newsletter I subscribe to @dailydrop which sends a newsletter EVERY DAY Monday - Friday. It’s literally part of my morning routine to read through it. They share a ton of news in the points/miles world along with occasional deals through specific airlines. 3️⃣ Good Old Fashion Google Flights Whenever I know I’ll be booking a flight for a certain date, I immediately search it in Google Flights and then have it track the price for me. You’ll get alerts if the price changes and can watch what it does over time to make sure you’re getting a good deal. 4️⃣ Perusing @skyscanner From Time to Time I personally really like the Skyscanner app because it lets you search for “USA” to “anywhere” at “any time” or you can search for specific months. It just lets you do a very wide range of searches instead of specific destinations. I’ve found a few mistake fares this way 👀 Do you use any of these?   • ❄️ Mini travel guide to visiting Leavenworth in winter ⬇️ First off, winter is one of the best times to visit Leavenworth! I’d specifically recommend visiting BEFORE Christmas as all the lights around town will get you right in the holiday spirit. The other good time to come is October for Oktoberfest. 🛌 Where to stay in Leavenworth? We stayed at the Bavarian Lodge which is right across the street from downtown Leavenworth. It was an excellent location and we could walk everywhere. Next time, I think we’ll find a cabin or A-frame to rent close by. 🥨 Where to eat in Leavenworth? • Munchen Haus for bratwurst • Rhein Haus for the giant pretzel • Whistlepunk for ice cream There are also a few steak houses and Italian restaurants for a nicer dinner. ⛸️ What to do in Leavenworth in winter? • sledding • downhill or cross-country skiing • snowshoeing through the forest • visiting the reindeer farm • shopping downtown • visiting a winery and/or tasting room • admiring the Christmas lights at night At only 2.5 hours from Seattle, Leavenworth is the perfect place to get away for a weekend.   • Sometimes, working remotely means working from home, the car, an airport lounge, a plane, or any other spot I get a few minutes to open my laptop 👩🏻‍💻 I try not to work on too many personal travel days, but this is when remote work can be reeeeeally beneficial to me.
